Greetings everyone, I woke up this morning and decided to shift gears for a minute and talk about my health concerns. It seems that no one want to really talk about health problems, especially men.

My name is David Bowie. I`m 54 years of age, black and have been taking medication for an enlarged prostrate for the past year and a half. But I`m jumping ahead of myself a little bit. I want to give you a little background history of me.

Than I got sick with a terrible cold and was taking medecine to help my cold. Once I got well, I could not pee. Well, like a dummy, I started drinking lots of water thinking I was hydrated. After about three days of not being able to pee, I went to the VA Hospital.

They took me to emergency and promptly ran a catheter in my penis. Trust me it does not hurt as bad as it sounds. I felt relief at once and was told that I would have to walk around with this catheter and bag until they find out what my problem is.

The first day I had the bag on I felt sorry for myself and would not go outside. The second day I saw some humor in my delima and decided to live life to the fullist. The humor I saw was that God had decided that if I did not have the the will power to stop poking all these women, he would give me a little hand. Trust me it worked.

So they put me on this medication called Doxaosin Mesylate after they took the catheter out. I started to get my flow back somewhat. Then on my next Doctor`s appiontment I was told that if the pills did not work they would have to give me something stronger but I would lose my sex drive. I screamed no! Not that! I`m still young and still have lots to do sexually. Little did I know that I was down for the count.

About a month later they put me on a medication call finastride. I tak one pill daily plus two pills of the prior medication daily and my flow is fine. I still have days where my flow is not so good but I know that the other choice is to wear a bag the rest of my days.

I just wanted to share that having an enlarged prostate is not so bad. Things could be worse. Next week I will write all the wonderful things that having an enlarged prostate have brought into my life.
